THE MAUSOLEUM, ROCHE HARBOR, WA :: On the northern side of San Juan Island, you can hike through a cemetery and deep into the forest to arrive at the impressive McMillin Family Mausoleum. Three steps up to the main floor represent youth, middle age, and old age. The family’s ashes are interred in the chairs around a table. An unfinished column in the rotunda signifies the work that remains unfinished in our lifetime.
