La Jolla
SOUTHWEST VACATION DAY 2 :: LA JOLLA, CA :: After Sea World, we drove to nearby La Jolla. I wanted to explore the Salk Institute, but the gates were locked. We circled around the complex, looking for a way inside. It would have been easy to hop a fence, but I didn’t want to spend my vacation in a San Diego jail. Kristie pointed out the security cameras and we left the grounds promptly.
Next, we met Annie and Chris at the Hard Rock Cafe for a nice dinner. They fascinated me with their fusion research (Annie does cellular, Chris does nuclear), and they were anxious about their new house and baby. Their kid will be very lucky and happy to have them as parents.
After dinner we had dessert at Cold Stone Creamery and headed down to the beach for a walk along the ocean. La Jolla is a very nice area. Even with the “June Gloom” weather, there were many families and couples out enjoying the evening.
