LA QUINTA AVENIDA, PLAYA DEL CARMEN, QUINTANA ROO, MEXICO :: This morning we walked from Playacar to Playa Del Carmen’s famous 5th Avenue, a 2.5 mile pedestrian-only street packed with flea markets, restaurants, pharmacies, tour operators, buskers, and the occasional store featuring unique handmade souvenirs. It was a fun and very interactive experience, politely turning down countless peddlers every 30 seconds. Most were friendly and pretty clever, some were even hilarious. You just don’t see that kind of relentless hustle back home! The experience also tested our acclimation to the 90 degree heat and high humidity, which was quickly amended by an afternoon in the pool and turquoise Caribbean!
