Halloween Sugar Cookies
EDMONDS, WA :: This Halloween we made a bunch of cookies in the shape of ghosts, pumpkins, bats and cats. It was fun and the cookies were delicious! Batches went out to family, friends and co-workers. We used the wildly popular Perfect Vegan Sugar Cookies recipe from last year – the most visited page on our website, with over 20,000 hits as of this posting!
Tip: Making black frosting is possible, but it takes a LOT of food coloring. Keep adding drops of red, green and blue until your greyish-purple frosting darkens into a convincing black.

Goodness, your cookies look gorgeous!
I wish I had found your website before Easter! Now I will have to come up with an excuse to make these (and I can’t wait until Halloween!).
Thank you!
What kind of frosting did you use for these?
Hi Katie,
I used the icing in the Perfect Vegan Sugar Cookie recipe… There’s a link to it in the post, or, you can copy and paste the following:

I made these for my daughter’s class because many of the kids have allergies to dairy and nuts. I used vanilla extract in the frosting. Yummy! What a great recipe! The kids didn’t notice any difference at all. Black frosting is easy to make if you buy the powder or molasses-thick black food coloring from a cake store, and then you only need a little bit of the food coloring. Thanks for the recipe!
Love this recipe! We make if for all holidays and we’ll be sending a batch to school with my daughter for her 6th birthday. Stumbled on this recipe looking for a dairy and egg free sugar cookie recipe for my food allergic daughter. Thanks so much for sharing!
