SOUTHWEST VACATION DAY 7 :: GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, AZ :: As a surprise for Kristie, I booked a tour to Grand Canyon National Park. I thought we could save some time if we took a short flight there and back from Las Vegas. Unfortunately, the outfitter was completely disorganized, uncommunicative, misleading and incompetent. Our hour and forty minutes at the park was soured by our miserable experience with Look Tours and Vision Air. The entire ordeal lasted 11 hours, in which time we easily could have driven to the canyon and back and had a much better day. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Read the negative reviews on TripAdvisor and at the Better Business Bureau.
We tried to forget about the touring company and enjoy our time at one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The Grand Canyon is truly impressive, and I’m very glad we got to see it. One of our stops was at Yavapai Point, where the canyon is more than ten miles wide and over a mile deep. You can see the effects of a mighty river, millions of years old, that eroded through 22 layers of the earth. I’d love to return someday to explore the canyon floor, by foot, mule, and/or raft.
