Our First House
EDMONDS, WA :: I apologize for the lack of posts lately, but I have a good excuse: Kristie and I have been very busy searching for our first house! After about 20 viewings, we finally chose a nice rambler in Edmonds built in 1979 with 3 bedrooms, 1.75 bathrooms, and a 2 car garage. The floor plan covers 1730 square feet and is situated on a fifth of an acre along a quiet street.
The pre-approval, purchase & sale agreement, inspection, appraisal, earnest money and insurance stresses are over. Now we’re just waiting on the loan to go through. We’re excited to close the deal and to begin work on making the house our home!
The inspection revealed the house is in great shape, but we want to make a few cosmetic changes before we move in. We’d like to re-floor with wood laminate, new carpet and tile. The entire interior will be repainted, and the exterior as soon as the weather is drier. Expect to see a lot of before & after photos from home improvement projects on the website from now on.
By the way, if you are looking for a real estate agent, please contact Michael Valiente at ZipRealty! He’s super-friendly, knowledgable, honest and always returns our phone calls and emails. We tried two conventional agents, but the service Michael provided was far better than both. Plus, for choosing a ZipRealty agent, we’ll receive more than $2000 as a rebate after closing!

Congrats. Looks like a great house!
Yeah congratulations guys, I love those skylights in the living room, we have two in our living room as well and the light it produces is amazing, as you will see. Enjoy your home. 🙂
Oh, how exciting! You guys must be thrilled, and of course, we are thrilled for you as well. Once you’re done with your projects in your house you must come and do some at ours, since we’ve lived here for 5 months now and still have rooms without any furniture.
Love,
Annie, Chris, and Alexandra (6 months old in 10 days!!!)
Kristie & John, Wow !! Looks like quite some house from which you two will make quite a home. So happy for you; as you know, next to education, you two have made the best investment one can make; a nice style of living in a home in what must be a terrific area of Edmonds that will concomitantly yield a great profit down the road. I so miss that Pacific Northwest foliage that we just don’t have in semi arid, albiet sunny, Southern California. Love & Kisses, Dad & Carol p.s. “think kids…”
You two blow me away. Well done. I’m excited for you, as it looks like everyone else is as well! So, when is the housewarming party?? 🙂
Sending you both much love,~Heather
Annie told me you’d just bought your first home!Congratulations and all the best.
Congrats on the new house! Now take some more pictures!
I want to see some renovation pictures!
It’s crunch time now! We have one week to get the house prepared before moving in. I’ll post some photos of all the working we’re doing soon!
John
congrats…
John& Kristie,I hope the move goes well. I feel your pain – we are moving house in about three weeks (if all the paperworks gets finished).Keith
Way to go on the new house. If you still need any more boxes before the Big day let us know as we still have many as we continue to unpack.
Not sure what your budget will be but if you have the chance to upgrade from hardwood to laminate I would do it. We just had Bamboo hard wood put in on our Main level which is so much better than the laminate that was done in our family room.
YAY! You guys will be so much closer to us!!Congrats, it looks beautiful!
