AKUMAL MONKEY SANCTUARY & RESCUED ANIMALS, QUINTANA ROO, MEXICO :: On the fifth day of our Mexican vacation, we bid farewell to Playacar and headed South towards Tulum, our next destination. Along the way we stopped at the Akumal animal sanctuary, where rescued animals from traffickers, circuses, and zoos shutdown due to COVID are rehabilitated. We were able to hold several of the animals, including macaws, a boa, and a monkey!
