BURGHOTEL "AUF SCHÖNBURG", OBERWESEL, GERMANY :: A secret garden surrounded our castle-hotel. It’s so secret, we only discovered the entrance on our third visit! Using the second key to our room, we unlocked a gate behind the castle that revealed a path through several forested acres including a cave, ponds, lookouts, a chapel, treehouse, libraries, galleries, sculptures, fountains, games, labyrinth, and a dozen other mysterious follies to explore! We spent a couple hours wandering the grounds of the castle, being led from landmark to landmark spotted in the distance. If we had more time, any of these would have been great areas for a picnic, relaxing with a book, or a grand party. Ah, to be a lord or lady of a castle!
