ZAANSE SCHANS – AMSTERDAM, ZAANDAM, NETHERLANDS :: We made the trip out to Zaanse Schans for a classic Dutch experience: windmills, clogs, and those iconic green timber houses. It was packed like we expected, but worth it to get a slice of Dutch history and culture.
This is where I learned that the Dutch are the inventors of the sawmill. Apparently they used the windmill blades to power the bandsaw.
