We are seeking a Senior Electrical and Controls Project Engineer to join our Global Engineering ‘Extrusion Innovation’ team. This individual will have direct ownership of large and small projects globally and will have the opportunity to make a significant impact for Sealed Air. In this role you will be responsible for identifying & implementing new technologies, in support of the company’s extrusion network to improve automation, rate, yield, safety, quality, service and cost metrics. The Senior Electrical and Controls Project Engineer will work independently and with a team to develop and implement automated/touchless manufacturing solutions and work on identified Transformation Projects within our supply chain organization. This individual must be able to develop, execute, and manage projects to include partnering with the business, purchasing, logistics, IT, and finance to ensure not only the project but also the company’s success. These skills will be applied to projects which will include industrial electrical and control system design and implementation for our internal extrusion processes. This candidate should be comfortable using their creative and technical background to develop feasible solutions to problems where a known solution may not exist. - Leads the implementation and configuration of applications supporting Sealed Air’s Touchless Automation/digitalization initiative
- Define and act on identified quality enhancements, service improvement and cost saving opportunities.
- Develop automation solutions to optimize plant floor operations including process and material flow.
- Apply strong technical and project management skills to all facets of projects to include budgeting, planning and solution development, equipment specification, design, and startup while coordinating with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and contractors to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Identify/evaluate new technologies that can be incorporated into the existing processes to improve yield, increase throughput, and/or reduce cost.
- Design/configure control systems, PLC programs, HMI interfaces, data aggregation and storage, and visualization software for analytical or troubleshooting purposes.

- Demonstrated ability and experience in automation and industrial control system design.
- Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in an electrical engineering, computer engineering, or relevant technical field from an ABET accredited university.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience with proven accomplishment in a relevant field.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills, a collaborative work style and ability to effectively work with an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability and willingness to travel is required up to 25%.
- Must be capable of work presentations at various business levels and functions. Valued Areas of Experience
- Experience with Rockwell (preferred) and/or Siemens PLC/PC controllers, HMIs and industrial networks such as Ethernet IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus
- Experience with 2D or 3D CAD (DraftSite/SolidWorks) for interpreting, modifying, and developing electrical schematic and panel drawings.
- Configuration of motor control systems, servo drives, variable frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems.
- Strong experience with variable frequency drives and motion control technologies.
- Experience with NEC, NFPA70E, CE, UL, and general industrial electrical codes and safety standards
- Experience directing and managing electrical installation contractors; electrical and controls start up and commissioning of new equipment: FAT at OEM sites, and SAT at Sealed Air manufacturing sites.
- Familiarity with communication protocols and software platforms for SCADA, industrial data capture, process data historians, and visualization applications a plus
- Work experience in manufacturing, plastic packaging, extrusion, or converting; strong plus if experience includes web handling, winding, and programming tension control loops
- Experience with robotics, AGV’s, and / or vision systems configuration, programming and integration a plus.
- Understanding of pneumatic systems and controls a plus
