Job Summary:

This role will be hands on and integral to the accounting and finance operations of Cirrus Aircraft. This position will have the opportunity to be part of a team that will be transitioning production processes and will be developing the accompanying transactional and reporting needs for finance and accounting operations. They will also get involved in various projects during this exciting period of growth. The Cost Accountant should also enjoy a challenging, fast-paced environment, be a team player and have an excellent ability to prioritize individual and team objectives.

The Cost Accountant will be able to perform various functions as detailed below.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for the following:

  • Analysis of actual manufacturing costs compared to standards
  • Reporting development of financial performance
  • Analysis of raw data in the Company’s ERP system
  • Analysis of Manufacturing Labor & Overhead absorption
  • Assist with production process remodel and Activity Based Costing development and maintenance
  • Assist with inventory management
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close in accordance with IFRS
  • Perform accounting research and ad-hoc reports
  • Maintain monthly reconciliations
  • Actively participate in the budget cycle
  • Assist in year-end audit
  • Provide management with recommendations for continuous improvement in business processes, internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Assisting with business process documentation and development, including software and systems
  • Additional duties as requested, directed or assigned

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum Five years’ experience in a Manufacturing and Standard Costing environment
  • Experience in managerial and financial reporting and accounting preferred
  • Experience aligning business processes with system processes to meet business needs
  • Understanding of end to end business processes
  • Deep understanding of accounting information systems and/or Enterprise Resource Planning
  • Proficiency in performing cost/benefit analysis related to the gathering and use of data and information needed to support accounting and management functions,
  • IFRS experience preferred—at a minimum, an in-depth understanding of US GAAP is required

Demonstrated Proficiencies/Skills/Abilities:

Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language. Additionally, the following skills are desired:

  • Strong Excel skills with proficient understanding of all Microsoft Office products
  • Exceptional problem-solving, documentation, research, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
  • In-depth accounting principles knowledge
  • Must be trustworthy and confidential
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proven ability to identify and drive process and system improvements
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and be a team player
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Dexterous in managing multiple competing priorities
