Job Summary

The Revenue Accountant is responsible for executing the Company’s commodity revenue accounting procedures, including processing monthly oil and gas revenues and associated owner distributions and preparing monthly revenue accruals and associated analysis. The Revenue Accountant is also responsible for preparing accounting reconciliations, performing financial statement analysis, and supporting the Regulatory team in accounting to ensure proper state and federal tax and royalty submissions.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Process monthly product sales for operated and non-operated properties
• Prepare the preliminary monthly check write process results to ensure owners are paid correctly
• Execute prior period adjustments
• Prepare related account reconciliations, including purchase accounts receivable, royalty, suspense and taxes payable accounts
• Record oil and gas GP&T tariff accruals and actuals for the Company’s midstream revenue streams
• Perform monthly analysis of volumes and realizations and explain variances to budget
• Prepare quarterly inventory processes including line-fill, tank volume reconciliations and valuation analysis
• Support Land/Revenue teams in responding to revenue-related owner inquiries
• Work closely with the Company’s Land department to ensure NRI/deck set-ups, suspended balance analysis/release and other interdependencies are properly executed to facilitate timely, accurate revenue processing results
• Assist with special projects as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

• At least 7 years of experience in oil and gas revenue accounting
• Team player that can communicate effectively and build relationships with the Company’s internal stakeholders, royalty owners and working interest partners
• Capacity to work effectively with changing priorities and comfortable in a dynamic environment
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, consistently meets deadlines
• High attention to detail, actively seeks to improve processes
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Takes initiative, seeks the greater benefit of the team
• Curious and eager to learn
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills. Proficiency with Spotfire and/or Power BI a plus
• Experience with W Energy (Waterfield) software a significant plus

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Experience in accounting for Bakken/North Dakota assets preferred
