The psychiatric physician assistant will provide outpatient medication management to children, adolescents, and adults at Brave in our Columbia, MO office and to future satellite locations, including telehealth. We believe in collaborative, holistic care. The psychiatric physician assistant will collaborate and coordinate care with our psychiatrist, therapists, and staff to ensure the care and well-being of our clients. When a patient/client needs additional services such as counseling, the psychiatric physician assistant will refer them to our clinicians at Brave to provide care and/or appropriate referrals.

Job Type: Full-Time, 40+ Hours per week
Qualifications:
  • Active, unrestricted license (PA) in the State of Missouri (must be fully licensed). A copy must be provided to Brave.
  • Required to be licensed to work in Kansas and Illinois within three months of starting at Brave.
  • Become licensed in other states as needed by Brave leadership.

Schedule, Hours & Location:
Work Schedule. The schedule and hours may vary depending on the needs of the practice. The practice is open Monday through Sunday, 8 AM to 10 PM. The current work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM or and 11 AM to 9 PM. with a 1 hour lunch break. This schedule will be subject to change based on the needs of the practice and the Founder, willing to negotiate work schedule flexibility.

Availability. Available at least 40+ hours per week. Available to hold at least 30 plus billable hours per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Brave. A minimum of 15 hours each week must be held during “peak hours” (defined as Monday through Friday between 4 pm to 9 pm or Weekends). Periodically, employees will be expected to flex their work hours to evenings, and weekends to accommodate special events and the needs of the practice.

Location & Work Environment. The primary office location will be at our office in Columbia, MO. Telehealth and virtual meetings will be held as needed. The location is subject to change based on the needs of the Practice. Employees will be expected to be on-site when a new office suite is obtained and/or maintain a hybrid location between the office suites and telehealth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of the Licensed Counselor/Therapist position is to provide outstanding clinical care to our clients, maintain an active caseload, and support the growth of the practice. This entails but is not limited to the following.
  • Intakes & Assessment. Responsible for all new client intakes which include a physical examination, screenings and assessments, biopsychosocial and medical histories, diagnostic evaluations, diagnosis, provided treatment recommendations, clear and timely documentation, matching clients with a medication provider who’s an ideal fit, schedule the clients next appointments, and coordinate care with the office and their medication provider.
  • Provide Quality Treatment. Perform on-site and telehealth medication management services to clients of Brave as scheduled, and in accordance with company policies.
  • Prescribing Medication. Prescribe and administer medications according to diagnosis. Monitor patients to determine efficacy and potential side effects of medications.
  • Refill Medication. Respond to patients’ requests for service or refills for medication within one business day whether such requests are made in person, by phone, voicemail, email, secure messaging, etc., or through the Brave website. Respond to such requests by meeting, evaluating, and providing services to such clients/patients.
  • Collaborative Treatment. Communicate with a client’s treatment team (i.e., PCP, counselor, school, etc.) as necessary.
  • Brave EAP Services. Will provide a variety of services including but not limited to consultation, medication management, and live and recorded training and education. As well as creating the content for aforementioned trainings.
  • Documentation. Timely complete written records for each patient including, but not limited to: intake assessment, progress notes, treatment plans, termination notes, contract notes, and other forms or documents which may be needed or required from time to time by Brave or third parties in conjunction with the treatment of the patient within a timely fashion (by Friday of each week). Keep patient files accurate and up to date.
  • Billing. Maintain accurate, timely documentation of services provided/billing codes consistent with the policy and rates for such services as established by Brave.
  • Communication with Clients. Respond to patients’ requests for service or calls within one business day whether such requests are made in person, by phone, voicemail, email, google form, EHR, Brave website, etc. Respond to such requests by meeting, evaluating, and providing services to such clients.
  • Communication with the Team. Will regularly communicate and engage with fellow team members, mentors, supervisors, and leadership. Will utilize communication platforms as outlined in our policies and procedures. Will seek out support, supervision, ask questions and share knowledge with team members. Will practice open, honest, straightforward, radical candor when communicating with the Brave team.
  • Treatment Collaboration. Communicate with a client’s treatment team (i.e., PCP, psychiatrist, school, etc.) as necessary.
  • Meeting & Trainings. Attend clinical consultation/supervision meetings, mandatory staff meetings, and training as directed by Brave. Periodically, this may require traveling and overnight stays.
  • Mentoring & Supervising. Passion for working with others (being collaborative), and helping our students/interns/team members grow and learn. Assist with welcoming, mentoring, and training new team members as we ensure their successful transition into our practice and continue to support their personal and professional growth. If applicable, provide formal supervision.
  • Attendance. Regular and reliable attendance and timely arrival to work required.
  • Professional Conduct. Conduct appointments and interactions with clients/patients in a professional manner so as to maintain and increase the goodwill and reputation of Brave. Be respectful of and cooperative and collaborative with co-workers, supervisors, colleagues, etc.
  • Policies & Procedures. Understand and follow all policies and procedures of Brave.
  • Maintain Licensure. Be properly licensed and abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and codes of ethics that are binding upon or applicable to the services performed for Brave.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Expanding Brave. Will assist with expanding Brave including but not limited to creating, launching and providing new services, marketing and networking, recruiting new team members, etc.
  • Special Projects. Will work independently and collaboratively with team members to complete tasks and projects, while staying highly organized, high attention to detail, and ability to prioritize various projects.
  • Creative Problem Solving. Be a problem solver and think ahead to ensure any challenges don’t greatly impact progress or outcomes for clients.
  • Goal-Driven. Ability to set goals and develop achievable timelines to hit them.
  • Networking & Events. Participate in developing community connections and expanding partnerships by attending community events, networking events, open houses, in-person and virtual meetings, staff recruiting events, etc.
  • Marketing. Assist with marketing the practice such as getting professional photos, writing professional profiles, blogging, creating videos, speaking engagements, creating professional educational training, etc.
  • Cross-Trained. Will complete cross-training and become proficient in essential duties of the front office and practice manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
