Position Summary:

As the first point of contact, the Patient Registrar will ensure an efficient and effective flow of patients, along with their related health information when accessing services.

Assisting our patients and families with courteous, prompt service in a caring, empathetic manner.

Position Responsibilities:

Registers patients for ambulatory, surgery and admissions through the full, as well as the quick registration process. Also pre-registers patients for services.

Reviews/updates patient insurance, contact and demographic information for each patient encounter.

Schedules clinic appointments; confirms scheduled appointments via computerized telephone system.

Maintains current patient information in the Shriners Hospital for Children's (SHCIS) electronic medical record.

Works closely with the Outpatient nursing staff, arranging outside patient care services.

Administers insurance pre-authorizations/insurance verifications for scheduled ambulatory appointments.

Enters required encounter information into SHCIS. Inputs for each patient encounter type, which includes day surgery and same day admissions.

Requirements:

Two years plus patient scheduling, registration and insurance verification. Microsoft Office Suite, along with familiarity with medical terminology is strongly preferred. Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred, not required.
