Position Title: Medical Coder with Orthopedic Experience

Department: Medical Billing and Coding

Reports to: Business Office Manager

Job Purpose:

The Medical Coder with Orthopedic experience will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning appropriate codes for billing purposes. The ideal candidate will have experience in Orthopedics and strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze patient medical records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all applicable regulations and codes.
• Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10 and CPT codes.
• Accurately abstract and record data for reimbursement and statistical analysis.
• Review and resolve coding and billing discrepancies and ensure that all coding information is accurate.
• Collaborate with the billing department to ensure that claims are submitted in a timely manner.
• Ensure adherence to coding and billing compliance guidelines.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of coding guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Perform coding training for other staff members as required.

Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Medical Billing or related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience in Orthopedics Medical Coding.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding systems.
• Familiarity with medical billing software systems, such as Epic or Cerner.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Working Conditions:

This position is primarily office-based with some remote work opportunities. The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple tasks at once. The job requires prolonged sitting and frequent use of a computer.

Salary:

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
