Lead Quality Engineer
Katmai is a web-based 3D video conferencing platform for remote work, events, and all else metaverse. We are a fully remote company pushing the boundaries of browser based collaboration. We're forming a dedicated team for testing this product and want you to help to build and grow our testing foundation.
We are looking for someone to join Katmai and build our testing team from the ground up. You will work with the other engineering teams to define and build testing strategies and frameworks for performance, integration, and end-to-end tests. Additionally, you will collaborate with the product and customer success teams to automate system compatibility, UAT, and regression tests. Unit tests are generally the responsibility of the teams writing the code to be tested.
Responsibilities include:
- Integration/E2E testing
o Daily - Write and maintain test scenarios, debug automated test inconsistencies
- Weekly - Optimize test runtimes, define test scenarios
- Monthly - Check in with engineering teams on testing needs, maintain frameworks
- Quarterly - Plan long term testing needs, team growth, and refactor opportunities
- Performance testing
- Monthly - gather actionable data through performance testing
- Quarterly - Collaborate with stakeholders to define data needs, and design the tests to support those needs
- UAT/Product/regression testing
- Monthly - collaborate with product and CSMs to enhance automated testing to support CS and product needs
- Quarterly - define goals for automating tests to support product UAT and CS regression needs
We are fully remote and work inside of our own Katmai virtual office.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a candidate with an established history of complex and thorough testing experience. Generally, someone with 5+ years of experience with the following skills:
Technical Leadership Skills Required
- You have built or help built out a Quality function in your past professional experience
- You have lead efforts in defining and creating efficient test matrices
- You are proficient in various testing frameworks and libraries
- You are as proficient in writing performance tests as user workflow tests
- You have lead efforts to integrate tests into automated CI/CD pipelines in your prior professional experience
- You have experience or have lead writing test plans for entire applications / products (not just features)
Technical Skills that are a plus
- Experience as a software developer
- Experience with JavaScript
Communication
- You can explain the tradeoffs you've made in your decision making
- You proactively seek the information, tools, or help you need from others
- You can document test plans and results in away accessible to technical and non-technical folk
- You are good at figuring out the underlying need for an underdefined problem, and can identify and work with stakeholders from across the company
Leadership
- You help others with specific, constructive feedback for code, and design.
- You can identify areas of process or communication that need to be improved across the teams you work with
- You establish direction for the team and help guide automated testing strategies.
Katmai is a fully remote company currently hiring in the United States and Canada. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are based on your job-related skills and experience and by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Katmai is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future
- Location is United States: USD $95,000 and USD $120,000 for a Lead Quality Engineer
- Location is Canada: C$80,000 and C$120,000 for a Lead Quality Engineer
