Install Support work is performed under conditions with immediate and continuous supervision, and detailed explanations of assignments, procedures and techniques being given routinely. Install Support receives continuous guidance and instructions in the fundamentals of the field and training in the use of tools and materials needed to perform general install support. Work is checked frequently during progress and upon completion and advice given on how to correct or improve work methods. Technicians, Work Leaders, and Supervisor are readily available to resolve problems or answer questions arising during the performance of assigned tasks. When performing routine and repetitive tasks receives general instructions with assignments and advice concerning anticipated difficulties, with intermittent inspection for compliance with instructions and acceptability of work.

Install Support must have the ability to learn common and most typical tasks of the trade to assist technicians. Work assignments are designed to increase knowledge and develop skills to progress to technicians when positions become available within the organization. Install Support will perform common tasks such as the installation of police light bars, front crash grills, radios, radars, and other common components installed within all makes and models of police-style vehicles. Install Support may also be involved in various aspects of vehicle disassembly, prepping of parts, components, or subassemblies; preparing parts for testing and preservation; tagging, sorting, or binning material/parts in support of kitting operations. Upfit Component Installers will not be allowed to perform the duties such as the formal installation of electrical wiring operations and wiring hookups to electrical components.

Physical Effort:

Requires frequent walking, kneeling, climbing, bending, and working in strained and cramped positions, lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight-handling equipment

Job Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• General Automotive certificate/certification preferred
• 1-2 years of Basic mechanical knowledge
• Must be able to perform 75% of all basic installation operations within 6 months of the hiring date.
• Able to read technical instructions to perform basic installation operations.
• Basic knowledge of tools and equipment needed to perform operations.
