Job description
Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years, but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20, and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.
Perform primary functions of a professional nurse director in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating patient care in the emergency department to assure optimal standards of patient care and nursing practice. Assesses plans, directs, and evaluates patient care in the emergency department. Assists with the development and maintenance of nursing practice that is consistent with the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Texas.
Assists in the review and revision of policy and procedure manuals to ensure current practices are reflected. Develops/maintains staff competency, education and training. Responsible for assuring that on-going program is in place to monitor, evaluate and improve the care delivered to patients. Manages both the Emergency Department and Trauma Program according to each level’s requirements. Have the authority and responsibility to monitor the provision of Emergency/Trauma care services from admission, stabilization, any applicable interventions, through discharge. Must have an active role in the QAPI program. Develops collaborative working relationships with other program managers in designated facilities within the J RAC
Licenses/Certificates:
Must have a license to practice professional nursing by the Texas Board of Nursing or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact. Successful completion of BLS upon hire. AHA Certification in ACLS and PALS.
