Planned Parenthood Arizona services include an emphasis on family planning and reproductive health care, including the provision of birth control and comprehensive contraceptive counseling, testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy testing, counseling and referral, HIV testing, annual exams, abortion care and more. In addition, PPAZ focuses on providing medically accurate sexuality education and training services throughout the state.

In collaboration with the Education Team, the Community and Family Engagement Manager leads the department’s efforts in the development, implementation and evaluation of culturally relevant parent and family education programs; a pilot peer education program; and serves as a supervising manager for Education team members. This position will be responsible for expanding the network of current parent workshop host sites, especially in underserved areas; the maintenance of contacts with community/health agencies and schools where programs are currently offered; as well as identify unexplored avenues for sex ed in our communities.
This position may be responsible for providing curriculum training of teachers in order for them to facilitate effective sex ed programs, professional development workshops for adults working with young people, and serve as a resource for sexuality education to community-based organizations. This position will work in collaboration with other externally-facing departments to manage the communication of sexuality education-related content on all PPAZ digital platforms. Guidance for style and structure in Spanish language communications is given through Planned Parenthood’s Spanish Stylebook. Support for developing Spanish facilitation skills given through coaching with a supervisor.

Option to work remotely and hybrid. Rarely weekend work, some evening work (mostly over the Spring and Fall school semesters) and out of town travel will be required. Approximately 25%-35% of work activity will be in person or traveling throughout Arizona (depending on base city).

The Opportunity: Community Outreach (40%)

    • Lead the development of PPAZ’s parent and family education programming, including marketing the program to schools, agencies, and community organizations, and ensures these programs are culturally relevant.
    • With support, leads the development and implementation of a pilot peer education program.
    • Manage current community partnerships and establish new partnerships that align with the SHARE Institute's mission by providing education on various sexual health topics and/or technical assistance to build support for sexuality education for adults and youth.
    • Represent PPAZ on community coalitions.
    • Participate in outreach events and activities as needed.
    • Identify local and statewide conferences for presentation opportunities.
    • Collaborate with the Education Team to innovate curriculum and curriculum delivery strategies, including using digital technology.
    • Identify new opportunities for program growth, with a particular focus in areas of high need.
    • Develop marketing strategies to expand audience and reach new populations around the state.
    • Maintain and report monthly statistics on education contacts and program outcomes and track progress toward annual goals.
    • Support Sr. Director of Education with administrative tasks related to grant/contract requirements, including reporting and follow up.

Hybrid Education (20%)

    • Collaborate with the Education Team to innovate curriculum and curriculum delivery strategies, including using digital technology.
    • Identify new opportunities for program growth, with a particular focus in areas of high need.
    • Develop marketing strategies to expand audience and reach new populations around the state.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to facilitate and co-facilitate employee, community, and professional workshops and trainings such as training of facilitators for evidence-based and sex ed curricula, as well as other sexuality education for youth, adults, professionals, and communities statewide.
    • Will support facilitation of Evidence-Based Curricula in community settings.
    • Serve as a resource person for sexuality education and family engagement to community groups, parent teacher organizations and professional coalitions.

Administrative Tasks (40%)

    • Supervise staff with nuance, kindness, and accountability. Support their professional development by guiding them through blind spots and providing opportunities for them to stretch.
    • As needed, create and update applicable presentations to best fit the request.
    • Remain up to date on topics and trends related to sex education.
    • Maintain and report monthly statistics on education contacts and program outcomes and track progress toward annual goals.
    • Support Sr. Director of Education with administrative tasks related to grant/contract requirements, including reporting and follow up.

We are Looking for Someone Who:

    • Experience in teaching sexual health or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish, specifically moderate - fluent Spanish writing, reading and speaking skills.
    • Strong knowledge of community social services workings and resources.
    • Experience with Canva and/or other graphic design programs.
    • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and virtual conferencing platforms like Zoom.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and Google Suite.
    • Flexibility and adaptability: Humble and willing to pivot as the energy of the work evolves.
    • Commitment to learn: Applies a growth mentality to their own and their team’s development.
    • Holistic project and people management skills.
    • Travel within Arizona with some evenings and weekends (25% - 35%).
