GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under supervision of the Coordinator of Food Service this position is responsible for preparing meals at EMPath facility located at 10 Perthshire Road, Brighton, MA. The Food Service Assistant also performs a variety of general food service duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

I. FOOD PREPARATION AND DISTRIBUTION: Carries out daily tasks required to prepare, distribute and/or serve all meals, including but not limited to breakfast, lunch dinner, staff, HDM, participants, meetings and other events as assigned; prepares, packages and delivers all meals including, HDM, in compliance with standards for quality and portion control; prepares, identifies and maintains logs and other reports as needed for the Food Services program. Packs and delivers HDM meals, drives van and delivers meals to individual apartments. On occasion will work in dining room serving meals. In absence of Coordinator, order food and writes weekly menus. Make additions and changes to HDM data base, print route sheets.

II. MAINTENANCE OF INVENTORY: Receives stores and stocks supplies and

equipment as needed; adheres to systems and procedures to maintain inventory and minimize waste.

III. SANITATION: Maintains and cleans all kitchen, dining room, store room and

Food Services equipment (including dishes, pots and pans) and

food preparation surfaces; maintains cleanliness of kitchen, dining room and food storage area, shelves, walls, floors and loading dock in accordance with organizational policies, standards of practice, license and code regulations; maintains all equipment related to HDM, including delivery van

IV. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Represents the Food Services program and the organization in a professional manner responsive to the needs of all consumers. Maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
• Interpret instructions verbally and in writing.
• Experience with food handling & sanitation procedures; use of kitchen utensils/equipment.
• ServSafe® certification preferred, or ability to complete training successfully as part of onboarding.
• Must possess valid Massachusetts Driver’s license.
• Good customer service skills.
• Will be required to operate van and deliver Home Delivered Meals daily
• Frequent hand and wrist movement; standing; bending; reaching.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently and/or daily
• Ability to stand for sustained periods of time.
