HOSPITALITY AIDE

General Purpose:

To assist the activities, nursing, and housekeeping departments. Will perform non-resident care duties.

Will assist with feeding of residents in congregate settings upon completion of NYS Feeding the Resident Program.

Will assist in maintaining a positive physical, social and psychological environment for the residents.

Qualifications:

Must show ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions

Must have positive attitude towards the elderly.

Essential Job Functions (With or Without Reasonable Accommodation):

Environmental Duties:

Making beds, straightening closets, night stands, dresser drawers, cleaning wheel chairs, stocking utility room, straightening dining room after meals,

watering plants.

Resident Assistant Duties:

May transport (but not transfer) residents to activity programs, dining room, or common area. May respond to call bells, channeling any requests out of his/her “scope” of job description to appropriate personnel, may assist resident by reading mail, magazines or newspapers, writing letters, keeping him/her company. May participate in hallway safety monitoring as assigned.

Food Service Duties: (Upon Completion of Feeding the Resident Program)

May pass nourishinents, prepare residents for meals and snacks; identify food arrangement and assist in feeding residents in congregate areas as needed, as instructed.

Hostess Duties:

May greet resident families, offering coffee, tea, cold beverage and snack.

Resident Rights Duties:

Maintain resident confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect; know and comply with Residents' Rights, and promptly report all resident complaints, accidents and incidents to

Supervisor or Charge Nurse.

Other Job Functions (With or Without Reasonable Accommodation):

Support Duties: Assist as directed.

Safety and Sanitation Duties:

Understand and use Standard Precautions and follow established infection control, hazardous communication and other safety rules. Promptly report all violations

or safety and sanitation rules to Supervisor or Charge Nurse.

Staff Development Duties:

Attend and participate in orientation, educational activities, staff meetings and required annual in-service training.

All Other Duties as Assigned:

Hospitality Aide role, the responsibilities and parameters of the role are as stated above.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Bending, grasping, walking, reaching, lifting, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling and ability to distinguish smell, tastes and temperature; ability to hear and respond to resident call system, ability to remain calm under stress, and ability to communicate with residents, other personnel and families.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.75 - $18.00 per hour
