Background & Purpose of the Job
The Payroll Specialist will perform payroll accounting and administrative duties to support the Payroll and Human Resources department. They will ensure payment is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations for both salaried and hourly employees. They will also comply with all state and federal regulations as it pertains to timekeeping, tax payments, and any garnishments or levies. They will assist the CFO and other team members in all levels of payroll/HR-related tasks to provide the best customer service to the employees and management. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have a high level of diplomacy and confidentiality.
Key Attributes & Position Responsibilities:
· Responsible for payroll processing in a multi-state corporate environment.
· Establish and ensure accuracy of federal, state and local taxes, social security contributions, employee benefit contributions, fringe benefits, garnishments and other deductions of employee paychecks.
· Analyze and respond to inquiries from employees regarding paycheck amounts, deductions, leave accruals, direct deposit and other concerns.
· Run reports and gather materials as needed to assist with annual audit and preparation of year-end tax returns.
· Assist CFO and Controller with special projects, administrative tasks and another accounting and reporting related work.
· Compile payroll journal entries from ADP reports on as needed basis.
· Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
Experience & Required Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Equivalent work experience in a related field also accepted
· 5+ years’ experience in a Payroll Processing and/or Accounting is preferred.
· Experience using ADP, or similar platform
· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office software, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
· Strong analytical, organizational, mathematics, and communication skills.
· Demonstrate adaptability when faced with a new challenge and open to change.
· Passionate and detailed in task execution.
· Experience in leading projects with cross-functional work groups.
· Possess organizational and communication skills.
· Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
