PACIFIC CITY, OR :: After our day in Salem, we decided to drive back home along the coast, stopping in Pacific City along the way. This small town skirts a beautiful, sandy beach that is usually filled with surfers and happy sun worshippers. The Pelican Pub overlooks the beach, and it’s the perfect place to enjoy dinner and a few pints of great beer on a nice day. One of my best summer memories is playing volleyball on their sand court until sunset. You just can’t beat the beauty of an ocean sunset after a day of fun on the beach.
We also stopped in Tillamook and toured the cheese factory. At the end of the free tour, they let you sample a variety of their cheeses. But don’t get suckered into actually buying any cheese there. They charge full price. The same stuff is available for much less at most grocery stores.
