Marin’s Holiday Party
SEATTLE, WA :: Marin and her roommates kicked-off the holiday season early with a party in their notorious Greenlake home. Perhaps a little too early, because pumpkins and Halloween decorations were found mingling with the stockings and Santa hats. People were holding cups adorned with ghosts while singing, “Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas.” After a few drinks, however, these discrepancies became unnoticed. What was noticed was the gallon of Cuervo that Maggie hauled in! At that exact moment, the place got packed and the music switched from Burl Ives to Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock. Party on!
Kristie and I had a great time. In our conversations, we realized most of our friends are jet setters and adventure travelers. Darren and Shannon are taking a trip to Patagonia and running a marathon in Antarctica! Chris is climbing Mt. Hood to raise money for breast cancer research. She also gets to go to Wales with Geoff. Pat and Cheri just got back from Great Britain. Jayson and Jessica are over in Thailand now. Jacob is heading to Costa Rica for New Years. My co-workers seem to go on cruises in the Caribbean every other weekend (perhaps I’m missing out on an employee perk?)
Meanwhile, Kristie and I remain grounded in the Pacific Northwest. No less happy, because this region contains an incredible wealth of diverse scenery and activities… But it would be nice to see a palm tree or a castle again! We promised each other to see more of the world when we’re finished with school.
