Vice President of Sales
Kauffman Engineering is headquartered at 595 Bond St, Lincolnshire, IL 60069 and has an immediate opportunity for a fully remote Vice President of Sales.

Job Summary
The sales and marketing leader is responsible for developing a company-wide sales strategy for existing and potential business to grow revenue sustainably in close partnership with customers. The position will lead a team of sales and business development professionals, customer service team and customer engineering team tasked to continuously develop and closely partner with existing/new customers through their product development and to identify new business development opportunities. This leader should optimize the sales process end to end via utilizing the right people, right processes, and right technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate business growth by working together with clients as well as business partners.
- Build and maintain high-level contacts with current and prospective customers and other business and project partners.
- Design, build and engineer sales processes to ensure efficient, accurate customer management. For example, ensure accurate quoting, sales forecasting and pipeline management.
- Ensure Sales process and structure is meets Kauffman Engineering’s strategy to scale appropriately.
- Direct team members to drive prospects from concept and beginning of relationship to contract award (including identifying new customers and markets, developing approaches to the market, identifying prospects, proposal preparation, etc.)
- Play a key role in the mergers and acquisition strategy.
- Gather, organize and analyze market intelligence to identify trends and opportunities for existing Kauffman Engineering applications. Translate this market intelligence into inputs for new product applications.
- Develop business development plans and drive to realize priority opportunities in line with Kauffman Engineering strategy and development plans.
- Be an active participant in the Kauffman Leadership team to drive and execute the overall company strategy.
- Put in place and cultivate a sales organization and processes that will deliver the sales and business development strategy of the company. Provide leadership and direction for the sales, business development and sales support teams.
- Collaborate with other operational functions to facilitate quotes and proposals to customers.
- Manage sales support functions such as Customer Service, Quoting and Customer Engineering to ensure seamless Customer experience.
- Develop, maintain, and improve sales processes to improve customer experience and execution.
- Identify, deploy, and maintain, industry leading “best in class” technology to improve efficiency of Sales function.
- Maintain sales and customer satisfaction metrics and proactively address issues and concerns.
- Conduct and participate in progress, strategy, and board meetings. Prepare supporting material and documentation as required.
- Utilize best practices and be a champion for continuous improvement in all functions under their control.
- Define short-term and long-range planning and budget development to support strategic business goals.
- Set operational and / or performance goals for the sales and support team(s) with aggressive yet achievable objectives, tied to the business’ long-term goals.
- Continually assesses and attracts organizational talent. Understands that businesses ultimately win or lose based on the quality of people in the organization and seeks to develop a superior talent base through a balance of internal development/promotion and external hiring.
- Capture Voice of the Customer input from customers and incorporates that input into the overall Kauffman Engineering Strategic Plan.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Engineering, or related field preferred and / or equivalent on- the-job experience.
- A minimum of 10 years-experience in a sales, business development or management leadership role with demonstrated ability to operate in a cross-functional environment to develop solutions to maximize revenue and margin.
- Proven track record of revenue growth and sustained customer partnerships
- Basic financial knowledge
- Analytical skills using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerBI is strongly preferred
- Established network of contacts in key customer areas is preferred
- Demonstrated success handling multiple priorities working in an environment dealing with fluctuating priorities and minimum supervision
- Knowledge and experience various software such as Salesforce (CRM), Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams is preferred
- Outstanding communication skills, both oral, written and presenting is required
- Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred but not required
- Location is remote but frequent travel to corporate headquarters based in Chicago is required
- Significant travel required (up to 50%)
- Utilization of effective time management skills to organize and manage multiple projects
- Remote Work requires stable internet connection with speeds up to 20MBps Up / 5MBps Down
