POSITION SUMMARY: The Deep Well Operator works under the direction of the Operations Manager or a Supervisor performing a variety of activities to properly inject waste into the deep well ensuring compliance with regulatory and environmental agencies and providing excellent service to customers. The Deep Well Operator may recover waste generated from a landfill or operate equipment such as a forklift and heavy equipment, as needed. The Deep Well Operator ensures all tasks are completed in a safe, effective, and proficient manner and that equipment is maintained according to Company, regulatory and manufacturer standards.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains work area and other areas in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
- Operates the deep well to meet the productivity goals of the business unit.
- Performs landfill waste activities as required.
- Prepares, maintains and tracks daily records relative to landfill hazmat, leachate and other related systems.
- Maintains preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance documentation and files.
- Uses Microsoft Excel and other computer-based programs to accurately track and report information.
- Occasionally deals with external customers and vendors and maintains professionalism throughout these interactions.
- Maintains daily required regulatory agency and other documentation in a timely manner.
- Performs all responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations that govern job performance; ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable federal and state requirements.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
- Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules; promotes the Company’s safety standards; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.
- Prior experience operating a forklift and/or skid steer.
- 1 year of experience working at a site regulated by OSHA.
- Experience operating and maintaining class 1 wells.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED.
- If regulations for the facility require it, ability to acquire required certification(s) after hire.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER Training or ability to pass course upon hire.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend documents such as (but not limited to) operational, technical, process, safety and quality instructions.
- Basic proficiency working with most common Microsoft Office applications.
- Understands the dangers of working with or around hazardous chemicals and able to read and understand safety data sheets to take the necessary steps required to mitigate those dangers
- Willingness to provide input on working practices to endure departmental goals are met and exceeded.
- Has confidence to inform colleagues of unsafe working practices or conditions.
- A positive attitude and high level of mental resilience.
- Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth, promotes the Company’s safety standards.
