Information Systems Epic Training Coordinator
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Training Coordinator will be responsible for managing the Epic teams’ training and certifications, devising training strategies for the organization, ensuring adherence to quarterly updates, and training timelines. Provides oversight to the daily work assignments of training specialists relating to system quarterly updates, including release note reviews, and the management and update of learning home dashboards. Duties also include resolving issues and questions for staff, developing and implementing quality improvement activities, training and mentors’ staff, and providing input on staff performance and developmental needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Works with Lake Charles Memorial Health stakeholders to develop training programs and strategies that support and positively impact the delivery of patient care.
- Designs, maintains, and delivers curriculum that includes learning objectives, training plans, trainer notes, exercises, handouts, review activities, audio-visual aids, using PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and screen capture technologies for e-Learnings.
- Manages team, work-assignments. Trains and mentors’ staff, while servicing as a role model.
- Resolves issues related to training as appropriate.
- Provides input on staff performance reviews.
- Reviews release notes to understand what changes are being proposed and implemented on a quarterly basis for the assigned application. Oversees training team member note reviews and timelines to ensure the Learning Home Dashboard is updated in a timely manner with current information.
- Performs curriculum review, testing, and regular content updates in association with application build updates to keep support content timely.
- Manages special projects requiring training team participation.
- Proactively takes the lead in developing long-term training tactics, strategies, and business/training models.
- Monitors metrics to understand training effectiveness and identify training needs and gaps.
- Collaborates across IT to ensure appropriate communication of changes. Analyzes and problem solves system or workflow changes.
- Incorporates appropriate policies and procedures along with approved workflows into training materials.
- Proactively manages Epic team training, certification testing, and certification status.
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite of products, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Proficient with e-Learning tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, and Snagit
- Proficient with HealthStream is desired

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s degree required in education, communications, computer science, nursing, information systems, business administration or related field.
- Six years of clinical, financial, or operations experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience leading projects is preferred.
Licensure
- Achieves applicable Epic certification within 90 days of completing Epic training.
- **Some roles, may require multiple Epic certifications**
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
