Spectra-Physics, Ophir, Newport and ESI are brands within the MKS Instruments Photonics Solutions division. We provide a full range of solutions including lasers for precision industrial and scientific research applications, laser and LED measurement, beam profiling, precision motion control, optical tables and vibration isolation systems, photonics instruments, temperature sensing, opto-mechanical components, optical elements, and systems for flexible PCB laser processing, high-speed MLCC testing, and CO2-laser-based systems HDI PCB and IC substrate manufacturing. MKS Photonics Solutions enhance our customers’ capabilities and productivity in the semiconductor, advanced electronics and specialty industrial markets.
We are looking for an exceptional Technical Writer who can:
Design, write, and update technical documentation for MKS|ESI products as part of a team focused on Development and Active Products. Documentation includes, but is not limited to, guides for site requirements, operations, service, training and applications.
- Work with engineers, support teams, and product and program managers to ensure content quality and accuracy.
- Manage organization and maintenance of documentation and templates.
- Facilitate translations.
What will you bring to the team, along with your curiosity is:
- Bachelor’s degree, with 5+ years of experience, preferably in Technical Documentation, English, or a related technical field; or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prepare written documentation in a clear and concise style for a targeted audience:
- Become familiar with complex hardware products and their software interfaces.
- Structure and present information so that it is easy to find and navigate.
- Develop and incorporate graphics as needed from photos, engineering drawings, block diagrams, and flowcharts.
- Proficiency in documentation tools and skills, including:
- FrameMaker, Acrobat, Microsoft Office (Madcap Flare a plus).
- Graphics software such as CorelDraw, photo editing software, and product photography.
- Proficient in Document Control Tools (Example: Agile, TeamCenter).
- Ability to develop working relationships with engineering staff.
- Consolidate information-gathering to minimally impact engineer time.
- Ask for and understand deeper technical explanations as needed.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Pay Range: $93,100 - $172,900 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
