Position Title: Teaching and Learning Coordinator
Department: Instructional Services Division
Reports To: Chief Instructional Officer
FLSA Status: Exempt
SUMMARY:
Supports and monitors instructional practices to ensure and enhance Tier I student learning environments. Provides instructional strategies, best practices, and instructional support utilizing a variety of sources including, but not limited to, district observation data, district and school formative/summative data, and comprehensive needs assessments. Promotes the multi-tiered support system and supports school leadership teams as needed in the MTSS process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Collaborates with Chief Instructional Officer, Assistant Superintendents, Director of Curriculum Support, Director of Accountability and Assessment, Director of Federal Programs, Principals, and other Support Specialists to determine targeted instructional needs

- Analyzes data to assist teachers with the implementation of instructional practices with a focus on student engagement and differentiation in Tier I instruction

- Utilizes the district’s observation tool to determine teaching and learning challenges/needs

- Monitors the district’s observation platform to assure positive learning environments

- Collaborates to plan and implement instructional practices to enhance teaching and learning

- Promotes and demonstrates active student learning strategies at elementary, middle, and high school levels

- Engages with school and district leadership teams in coaching cycles to improve teaching and learning at all levels

- Co-teaches with colleagues to demonstrate model lessons and assist with implementing curriculum

- Collaborates with school leadership teams to ensure that the MTSS process is followed and provides support as needed

- Promotes the multi-level system of support by collaborating with team members to determine personalized levels of support opportunities for student learning

- Provides training for school leadership teams including Student Intervention Team (SIT) members

- Updates, communicates, and solicits feedback on manuals/handbooks/processes regarding MTSS/SIT

- Facilitates data meetings with leadership teams and teachers to make data driven decisions

- Assists in the planning and setting up of data designated spaces/rooms

- Creates data reports, as needed, for district and school leadership teams

- Participates in professional meetings and educational conferences

- Performs other duties as may be assigned by Chief Instructional Officer and Assistant Superintendents

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Master’s Degree
A minimum of five years of successful experience in teacher leadership
Instructional coaching and/or student intervention experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid South Carolina Certificate in specified content and/or level
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Not applicable
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and instructional manuals. Ability to design and write professional development plans, reports and data entry procedures. Ability to effectively present professional development and training and respond to questions from groups of educators, trainees, media, administrators and organization members.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and in the display and interpretation of data. Ability to apply basic concepts of statistical analysis, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to make decisions in non-routine situations requiring good judgement. Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community stakeholders; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.
Ability to implement a flexible work schedule to meet reporting deadlines. Ability to perform task within Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to perform duties with a high level of detail and accuracy. Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group.
