We are looking to hire a Systems Administrator - Storage/Backup SME to support our Enterprise IT Support Services work at the Army Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC), Redstone Arsenal. AvMC is the Army’s focal point for providing research, development and engineering technology and services for aviation and missile platforms across the weapons systems life cycle. AvMC’s mission is to “deliver collaborative and innovative aviation and missile capabilities for responsive and cost-effective research, development, and life cycle engineering solutions” to equip the Warfighter with the best technology today and tomorrow.
*Please note that the AvMC positions come with varying degrees of remote/on-site support at the discretion of the customer*
Responsibilities:
- Perform hardware installations of new equipment, e.g., servers (e.g. Windows, Linux/Unix, Network Devices, and Virtual Machine Components), virtual file servers, and storage devices.
- Provide data storage subject matter expertise for SAN fabric switches, data domains, hyper converged appliances, file systems, and other data storage technologies.
- Install, configure, integrate, upgrade, monitor, and maintain mass data storage systems (including backup and archival systems); configure permissions as required to restrict access to authorized groups, systems, and individuals.
- Develop and operate backup and recovery strategies for all AvMC data; verify that storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures are tested and functioning correctly in accordance with Government approved plans.
- Provide data and information regarding Disaster Recovery Plans that address backup security; backup and restoration software and procedures; backup media storage; backup schedules; backup audit records; and trusted recovery.
- Report on issues and resolutions regarding backup failures and test disaster restoration abilities in accordance with industry best practices and applicable regulations.
- Provide technical support for hardware troubleshooting, maintenance, system backups, system updates and helpdesk support for AvMC’s information systems users/train users as needed.
- Serve as the technical and operational focal point of contact for IAVAs, STIGs, patches, and new compliance technology implementation.
Requirements:
- MS/MA in related field
- 15 years of related work experience
- Experience with Cohesity and Isilon storage solutions (preferred)
- Experience with industry best practices and standards for system administration, including Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Lean Six Sigma (LSS), and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) compliant processes desired
- DoD 8570 Level II/III certification
- DoD Secret clearance
