South Plains Rural Health is currently hiring for Staff Pharmacist-Relief to join our Levelland Team.

The Staff Pharmacist performs clinical and professional pharmaceutical work in the dispensing of drugs for the health center.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepares and fills drug orders by health center physicians and other authorized personnel.

2. Stores and preserves biologicals, vaccines, and serums.

3.Checks incoming shipments and arranges for their storage.

4. Maintains inventory and other records in regards to inventory, prescriptions dispensed, and performance improvement.

5.Supervises and trains pharmacy staff as directed by the Pharmacy Director.

6.Participates in in-service training.

7.Is available to staff and patients to answer questions and dispense drug information.

8.Provides for a clear and effective flow of information between the pharmacy staff and the management team by conducting staff meetings.

9. Makes recommendations to the Pharmacy Director regarding the purchase of equipment and supplies needed to provide patient care.

10.Participates in the performance improvement activities of the health center that relate to the pharmacy program.

11.Advises and assists the Pharmacy Director in all major decisions regarding pharmacy policy and procedures.

12. Inspects all nursing and dental stations, sample cabinets and emergency carts for outdated medications.

13.Recognize own role in marketing of clinic services by developing positive relations with the public in general.

14. Participates in the health center’s performance improvement activities and performs duties in accordance with applicable standards.

15.Performs other related duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Director and/or the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.

2.Current registration to practice pharmacy in the state of Texas.

3. Must exhibit a high degree of professional excellence characterized by sound independent judgment, initiative, and a high standard of ethics.

4.Must be physically able to stand for a long period of time and lift moderate weights.

5. Must be qualified in Basic Life Support techniques.

6.Sufficient experience and/or education to carry out the duties of this position, preferably at least one (1) year of previous pharmacy experience.
