SUMMARY

Responsible for direct oversight of the day to day operations, including providing general supervision and direction to staff, volunteers and clients, including immediate response to client situations; facilitates the admission and discharge of all clients, and acts as program director in the absence of the director.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Provides direction and oversight for day to day program operations, and management, coordination and scheduling of all daily services including laundry, showers, chores, and token distribution.
  • Oversees the scheduling and coordination of all supportive services, and ensures client participation in supportive services, including but not limited to life skills, job readiness, and parenting plus classes.
  • Completes shift monitor and program assistant weekly schedules for all three shifts M-F, ensuring coverage for all shifts, and keeping updated the list of on-call staff; receives and manages staff call-outs and related coverage needs.
  • Provides direct supervision to shift monitor and program assistant staff for the evening and overnight M-F shifts, including conducting regular and as needed supervision meetings, and offers direction and guidance to shift monitors and program assistants with regard to conflict resolution strategies and crisis intervention as needed during work shift.
  • Monitors nightly attendance, comparing roll call sheets with excused absence log, and enters bed utilization data into the Baltimore County HMIS system. Follows up on reasons for unexcused absences and makes recommendations to the Case Manager and Program Director regarding next steps for guests with unexcused absences.

SECONDARY DUTIES

  • Collaborates with the Case Manager in the management of mental health crisis and other client crisis situations with recommendations for immediate and follow-up action and keeps Case Manager informed of behavior concerns or issues observed during the shift.
  • Schedules and tracks attendance at all mandatory orientation and training sessions for shift monitors and program assistants under their supervision.
  • Enters attendance and participation data in the Baltimore County HMIS system for client attendance at classes and for services delivered.
  • Promotes an atmosphere of care, respect, and support among clients, volunteers and staff according to the core values for St. Vincent de Paul.
  • In the absence of the director, makes decisions regarding client discipline.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Assists with and attends special events held by the Center and St. Vincent de Paul as necessary.
  • Upholds the vision, mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
  • Meets regularly with supervisor and attends all staff meetings and other meetings as required/directed.
  • Supports a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers and works with them effectively.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma required. AA degree in human services or related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years experience working with, and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of, persons who are materially poor and/or homeless, with a focus on women and children/families.
  • Experience in crisis intervention, behavior management, and/or conflict resolution.
  • Ability to be comfortable working with persons of all socioeconomic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds in a non-judgmental manner.
  • An understanding and respect for the confidentiality of clients.
  • Good organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to facilitate reflective and educational discussion with individuals and groups.
