Job description
The Senior Training Specialist works directly with subject matter experts (SME's) to define, develop and deploy effective learning solutions throughout the organization. This individual is an advocate for using technology to provide a variety of training delivery options. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but will have frequent interaction with various stakeholders and works in a lead capacity as part of the training team. Other duties may be assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with cross functional (SME's) to create accurate content for online and blended / interactive classroom programs that align with predetermined training objectives.
- Develop eLearning work plans with milestones, deliverables and timelines.
- Create and prepare digital and printed materials used to support training (e.g. training manuals, PowerPoints, eLearning modules).
- Perform quality checks on modules, courses and system functionality to assure deliverables meet customer needs.
- Formulate teaching outlines that deliver best fit instructional methods.
- Develop methods to measure trainee progress and evaluate effectiveness of training.
- Create an engaging learning environment by developing & delivering dynamic trainings via in-person or recorded webinars.
- Maintain and update training software used to develop eLearning trainings such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe After Effects and Pinnacle Studio.
- Provide updates to training department on changes to software systems and hardware.
- Operates video and audio equipment, on location or in the studio, to produce professional level pre-recorded programming.
- Comprehensive understanding of video development and production.
- Completes preventive maintenance on video and audio production equipment.
Qualifications/Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in education, instructional design or a related field and five (5) years of progressive content design and/or training experience, or any like combination of education and experience.
- APTD or CPTD certification is a plus.
- Proven history of successful full cycle project management.
- Experience with developing and implementing web modules for Alchemy LMS platform.
- Knowledge of professional level video and audio editing software and equipment.
- Must be comfortable speaking in front of groups while maintaining high energy.
- Ability to apply higher-level thinking and trouble shooting skills to intricate problems involving multiple considerations.
- Understanding of AICC/SCORM/Tincan standards and uses in development process.
- Proficient use of all Microsoft applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Ability to communicate ideas verbally, textually and pictorially and transfer that skillset into the e-learning development.
- A strong understanding of learning theory, especially adult learning theory and up-to-date knowledge of effective training strategies.
