The Apple Media Products (AMP) Video team is searching for an experienced senior media systems engineer to help build large-scale systems and integrations, with a strong focus on scalability, performance, reliability, and resilience. You will join a hardworking and hands-on live streaming engineering team that fosters inclusivity, creativity, and pragmatism. We deliver highly available and performant solutions that power our best-in-class live streaming experiences across the Apple TV App ecosystem.
Key Qualifications
- 10+ years of broadcast, streaming, and/or production/post-production experience
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple cross-functional teams to understand requirements and engineer highly performant implementations
- Ability to summarize concepts and ideas into succinct, captivating proposals and documentation
- Deep understanding of media systems (cloud and data center infrastructure, networking, centralized storage, multi-OS platforms, etc.)
- Deep understanding of IP video and audio protocols and codecs such as SMPTE ST-2110, JPEG XS, SRT, NDI, Dante, Zixi, etc.
- Expert knowledge in developing, deploying, and scaling centralized and global media systems
- Expert knowledge of video and audio signal flows, workflows, protocols, and codecs
- Experience in both hardware and software systems
- Experience in cloud, data center , and facility design and development

We deliver highly available and performant solutions that power our best-in-class live streaming experiences across the Apple TV App ecosystem. About you: You have a passion for pushing the envelop and scaling media infrastructure. You implement standard practices such as resilience and redundancy to ensure your systems are always on and are a firm believer of collaborating with engineering and operations teams alike. Responsibilities * Work effectively and efficiently across multiple projects and teams to understand requirements and engineer highly performant and reliable systems and services * Build large scale media systems and services across both cloud and data center environments, ensuring robust and maintainable solutions are implemented with special attention to performance, scale, and reliability * Design, develop, and architect various media systems and workflows with internal and external partners and vendors from proof of concept to production * Solve real-time signal, workflow, and system issues under real-time pressure * Troubleshoot complex internal and external partner and vendor integrations * This role will require some nights and weekend work
Education & Experience
* BS/BA in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent is preferred * Equivalent or relevant field experience acceptable

Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $144,500 and $250,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
