ALARY NOTE: The salary range listed represents a broad salary range for this position. It is anticipated that this position will begin at $4,783.00 per month for an Electrical Trades II with a Journeyman license and $5,261.30 for an Electrical Trades II with a Master license, depending upon internal equity, experience, education, and training.

Description of Job

JOB DUTIES: Your application must provide a detailed description of your relevant work experience in relation to the following duties: This full-time position provides electrical maintenance; installation and repair to assure facilities are safe, secure, and fully operational.

Specific duties include:

  • Evaluates the conditions of facility electrical and life safety systems in relation to their function.
  • Schedules preventative/predictive maintenance and/or repairs as necessary.
  • Provides electrical construction support to minor renovation and new construction projects at all three PPSC campuses.
  • Assures proper function of specialty electrical systems to include fire alarm, low voltage-controlled lighting systems, theater and gallery lighting systems, emergency power systems, generator and related switch gear.
  • Performs periodic tests and analyzes results.
  • Schedules and performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Interprets plans, specifications and drawings of electrical and mechanical systems in nature relative to projects to meet the needs of the institution.
  • Reviews plans and assures compliance with NEC state and regional codes, local laws, and ordinances.
  • Performs electrical installations, demolition and testing of minor construction and remodel projects.
  • Assists journey level crafts people in structural and grounds keeping areas within the division upon requests and removes snow when needed.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a journeyman electrician license issued by the State of Colorado with skilled experience in the commercial or industrial electrical construction field. Do not use "SEE RESUME" statements on application; your application must be completed in detail and clearly document your relevant work experience and must be documented as the primary function of the work assignment.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
  • Must possess and maintain a current, valid State of Colorado Driver's License to operate campus vehicles, attend meetings, pick up supplies, etc.
  • Must possess and maintain a Colorado Journeyman Electrician License issued by the State of Colorado. Please provide your type of license, number and expiration date on your application.
  • Standing for long periods of time, including kneeling, stooping, crouching, reaching and grabbing.
  • Exposure to electrical shock, working in high exposed places, proximity to moving, mechanical parts, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Use, handling or exposure of hazardous materials; fluorescent lamps, mercury, etc.).
  • Snow removal in adverse temperatures.
  • Moving and lifting equipment in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and 50 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • This position is an essential services designation, requiring to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety and welfare.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Please provide a detailed description on your application of your relevant work experience and document examples of your work in relation to the following experience: Experience reviewing blueprint's and diagrams for construction. Possession of State of Colorado Master Electrician License. Experience pulling work permits for construction. General computer knowledge. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to work as a member of a team as well as an individual contributor. Knowledge of reading, interpreting drawings and written instructions. Ability to deal with a diverse population with discretion and tact.
