The Sr. Director of Fiber and Construction is a critical leadership role that oversees Outside Plant Design, Planning and Construction. The position is responsible for leading the OSP engineering fiber expansion effort for the FTTx program across the geographic areas that Vexus services. This includes selecting expansion locations that align with company strategic focus and then ensuring that projects are engineered in compliance with company design standards and financial guidelines. This position will interface with many other teams both internal and external to ensure success. The Director will oversee an organization comprised of supervisors and individual contributors to deliver on key financial goals and meet all project deadlines to effectively complete tasks at or below budget. They must be able to set objectives, determine appropriate strategies, and necessary tactics to deliver on key Performance Indicator objectives. This position is responsible for overseeing the engineering of the outside plant segment of FTTx services that include residential, commercial and multi-dwelling unit properties.

Summary

The Sr. Director of Fiber & Construction is a critical leadership role that oversees Outside Plant Design, Planning and Construction. OSP construction involves SMB, Enterprise, Carrier, and Residential Construction. The Sr Director - East directs all aspects of construction projects to ensure their completion according to standards, specifications, schedules, budget and contractual commitments and provides direction and guidance to regional Construction Directors/Managers and other personnel to ensure the coordination of activities and the timely, accurate completion of projects within budget.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Organize and manage the East Construction group responsible for:
  • Market Expansion
  • Commercial & Carrier
  • Infrastructure Modifications
  • Permitting
  • Construction Contractors onboarding to delivery
  • Ensuring timely completion of projects, within budget.
  • Setting up standards and specifications for Construction projects

• Oversee construction areas across Louisiana, East Texas and South Texas.
  • Develops and implements standards to ensure efficient construction of all OSP Construction.
  • Ensure standards are enforced through testing and implementation.
  • Develops and forecasts budgets.
  • Develops RFPs, negotiates contract labor costs, and assists in the selection and evaluation of contract bidders for projects.
  • Oversees and manages the performance of work performed by contractor and/or in-house personnel.
  • Work as the Engineering FTTH liaison to other associated teams (Material Procurement, Construction, Marketing, Sales and Regulatory).
  • Ability to effectively manage a high-performing team.

Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science or considering equivalent work experience.
• Ten or more years OSP construction and implementation.
• Five or more years of Leadership experience.
• Requires an end to end understanding of OSP, Planning, Engineering and Construction
• Up to 50% of travel as required by business needs.
• Strong Construction background in Telecommunications
• Strong leadership
• Excellent Interpersonal skills
