Job Summary

Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.

Responsible for gathering, organizing, validating and/or modeling clinical data for the purpose of understanding or making conclusions from the data for decision making and operational improvements within the patient care services division. Liaison with various customers both internal and external to assure data quality and integrity. Provide administrative support to inpatient clinical directors as needed.

Example of Essential Functions:

  • Create reports for Nursing Leadership related to operational processes. For example, but not limited to, throughput, time and attendance, workflow outcomes.
    • Establishes format and frequency of desired reports and establishes process to generate these reports to assure timeliness, accuracy and production.
    • Meets established due dates while keeping management apprised of barriers/issues.
  • Supports the Inpatient Nursing Division’s daily activities, data collection & analysis related to operational improvement initiatives
    • Assists in daily data collection and enters data into appropriate databases.
    • Collaborates with leaders and managers within the Patient Care Services division to determine and address data and reporting needs related to operational processes , ensuring data and information collection process and procedures are within compliance.
  • Data Analysis and Support
    • Responsible for support of multiple report cards, dashboards, and other reports as requested to see that they are updated in a timely fashion related to nursing operations.
    • Analyzes data as needed using statistical methods, creating and running reports on selected outcome measures, entering and transferring data, creating spreadsheets, presentations, dashboards.
    • Verifies data by comparing it to source documents, updating all existing data within the assigned timelines and due dates.
  • Special Events/Projects
    • Accepts projects for the Patient Care Services division and/or other areas of the hospital as needed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced proficiency and accuracy in the use of software programs such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
  • Ability to identify useful information in data sets and suggest conclusions that support decision-making
  • Understanding of data collection methods
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret data to create reports that present data in a meaningful way and /or adapt reports to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Attention to detail to assure accuracy of reports and data required.
  • Possess problem solving and analytical skills to address system and data issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work professionally with a diverse population base.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to create, compose and edit written materials.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:

  • BS degree in business or computer field or related field preferred, AA degree required with a minimum of at least five years’ experience creating, updating and analyzing data and pursuit of BS degree in business or computer field.
  • A minimum of five years’ prior experience in an office setting; prior healthcare experience is preferred.

Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for patients in the following age groups:

Physical Demands:

Sedentary - Light Work - Lifting up to 15 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes). While work is mostly done sitting, a certain amount of walking or standing is often necessary.
