Job Summary:
The Emergency & Hospitalist Medicine Service Line (EHM) is experiencing exponential growth within the RWJ Barnabas Health System, with the addition of multiple divisions including Anesthesia and Radiology. As a result, we are seeking an additional member to join our team. In this role, the Senior Accountant will provide analytical support and assist in month-end close cycle, management accounting reporting, revenue cycle, annual budgeting, and ad-hoc projects. The Senior Accountant must have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and have the ability to work cross functionally with other departments, as journal entries will be posted by Corporate Accounting. In addition, Senior Accountant will also work cross functionally with Corporate Payroll in preparing, maintaining, and submitting employee salary, bonus, overtime and other compensation bi-weekly for Anesthesia division.
Job Responsibilities include:
Financial Accounting & Reporting:
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for month-end financial reporting of EHM Service Line, Anesthesia and Radiology divisions.
- Assist in the month-end close by preparing journal entries, analysis, and GL account reconciliations.
- Monitoring and tracking expense invoices, reconciling journal vouchers and preparing expense accruals.
- Analyze financial data to explain variance drivers, identify trends, recommend opportunities to improve performance.
- Handle large and complex datasets, aggregating datasets in excel-based database. Knowledge of Microsoft excel spreadsheets, VLOOKUP s, SUMIF function, and pivot tables is highly desired.
- Assist in annual budgeting process, input and review site budgets in Axiom.
- Be a resource to assist, mentor and coach Financial Analyst(s) as needed.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Payroll:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee compensation data, including salaries, bonuses, overtime, and other compensation. Review computed wages to ensure accuracy.
- Review and approve pay data on a regular schedule, including calculating and verifying hours worked.
- Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
- Preparing summary reports for management and auditing purposes.
- Assist with benefits administration, including tracking sign on, retention and incentive bonuses for providers.
- Computing wages for independent contractors on a monthly basis.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 3-7 years of experience in accounting or related field / Master of Business Administration preferred.
- Payroll processing and administration exposure highly desired.
- Hospital or Healthcare experience highly desired.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate ability to analyze large amounts of data, and present in a meaningful format.
- Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP platform experience (i.e. Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft preferred).
