POSITION SUMMARY

Lead the management and administration of MRO vendors focusing on CFM56 powerplant maintenance, planning, and reliability as set forth in the Code of Federal Regulations and the Company Operations Specifications. Ensure MROs are accomplishing quality maintenance, ensuring airworthiness, and timely return to service of Company powerplants. Plan, organize, and control key activities including preparing the 4Ms (Man, Machine, Materiel, and Method) of project management with appropriate financial controls that support Company objectives. In cooperation with Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance departments, incorporate learnings into action that yield measurable improvements in dispatch reliability, on-wing time, and maintenance span times.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the primary liaison for CFM56 maintenance vendors
  • Responsible for meeting financial targets and implementing financial controls
  • Responsible for accurate accounting and monthly reporting in the TRAX system of material used by MROs
  • Direct accomplishment of MRO CFM56 production work including scheduled maintenance, time-controlled unit changes, deferred items repair, minor and major repair & alteration, AD notes, EOs, service bulletins, special bulletins, and special instructions
  • Manages contracts, costs, and scheduling associated with MRO work performed on Company CFM56 and components
  • Support and promote SMS in accordance with the Safety Management Manual, Chapter 3 and ensure safe maintenance work.
  • Ensure all instructions pertinent to safety are properly observed and that all maintenance personnel under their authority comply with and understand existing safety regulations, including the control of dangerous goods/hazardous materials used in maintenance facilities
  • Recommends procedures and methods to improve the quality and efficiency of maintenance
  • Coordinates with other departments to schedule maintenance
  • Coordinates with Engineering, Quality, and Director of Maintenance regarding recommended changes to support improved aircraft reliability
  • Maintains a close liaison and working relationship with the Director of Quality Control, Director of Maintenance, Director of Materiel/Stores, and all other departmental heads
  • Maintains Company liaison with the FAA, and other airlines and agencies
  • Assists personnel in finding solutions to maintenance problems
  • Ensures the prompt requisition of materials and tooling required for efficient execution of assigned work
  • Ensures the economical and judicious use of staff, materials, equipment, and facilities.
  • Ensures that assigned personnel comply with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Ensures the safe accomplishment of maintenance work
  • Responsible for identifying hazards within the Company’s operations and systems and reporting those hazards through the WBAT or departmental hazard reporting systems
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Mechanic certificate with airframe and powerplant ratings preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or engineering (or equivalent) preferred
  • Finance and contract negotiating experience in aircraft/powerplant maintenance is strongly preferred
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of:
    • Applicable Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)
    • FAA Operating Certificate requirements
    • Company operations and procedures or be able to rapidly learn the material
    • Inventory policies and procedures or be able to rapidly learn the material
    • Company manuals and Company training programs or be able to review materials and come up to speed quickly
  • Strong leadership skills, including demonstrated ability to coach and mentor as well as foster a positive and productive work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to establish positive, collaborative relationships across departments/operating companies and work cooperatively to solve problems
  • Experience preparing and monitoring budgets and contracts in a business environment
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check and receive TSA clearance to work in secure area

THE SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS $100,275 to $150,405

LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Positions at this level have a high level of communication with company leadership, varied internal stakeholders, staff, regulators, external stakeholders, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to give clear written and oral instructions to team members, and vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports, procedures manuals, correspondence, and other related materials
  • Requires ability to respond effectively verbally and in writing to inquiries from regulators
  • Spanish communication skills are a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Most work is performed in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level
  • Primary office is in Seattle, WA along with hybrid and remote options
  • This position requires the incumbent to spend time in other environments such as maintenance hangar, engine shops, outdoor airline ramp, etc.
  • May be exposed to adverse weather conditions (extreme cold or heat), fumes, wet surfaces, and icy conditions
  • Domestic and international travel required (~25%)

PHYSICAL EFFORT

  • The employee is regularly required to sit and sometimes stand
  • The employee will need to see (including close vision), speak, and hear
  • Manual dexterity is required for input into or manipulation of spreadsheets, composing composition and reports, etc.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
