Overview:
The SAP BASIS Architect / Administrator will be responsible for planning, managing and/or executing installation of support packs, feature packs, version upgrades, executing backups/recovery, system refresh and troubleshooting as well as database administration, conducting failover of production systems, and monitoring and performance tuning of SAP systems.
The SAP BASIS Architect / Administrator will provide day-to-day oversight of the Managed Service Provider and any other consultants responsible for maintenance of the BASIS component of the SAP systems including coordination of BASIS activities with SAP as outlined under the SAP Hana Enterprise Cloud (HEC) RACI. The SAP BASIS Architect / Administrator will work with the SAP Center of Excellence, the Application Development and Integration Lead, the Quality Assurance Architect, and the Release Manager to plan and execute maintenance, enhancements, projects, and upgrades of the BASIS component of the SAP system landscape aligned with the enterprise-wide application roadmap. T. Marzetti has transitioned to a comprehensive, cloud-based, state-of-the-art integrated Enterprise landscape with SAP S/4 Hana at the core. The SAP BASIS Architect / Administrator will be responsible for end-to-end delivery and maintenance of the SAP BASIS solution related to the following systems: S/4 Hana and all add-ons, Solution Manager, Governance Risk and Controls (GRC) via Access Management, Cloud Platform Integration (CPI) and the related Business Technology Platform (BTP), CRM and BW on Hana for Trade Promotion Management, and any future SAP applications.
The SAP BASIS Architect / Administrator will ensure the technical build and operations of the ERP landscape meets best practices for technical requirements and aligns to industry best practices. This is achieved by managing him/herself and a team of technical consultants that architect, build, deliver and run the SAP landscape. The SAP HANA BASIS Architect / Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the BASIS component of all SAP systems and will assist in the planning, designing, and architecting of SAP systems across a variety of platforms and databases.

- Responsible for oversight of the technical strategies relative to creation, implementation, and expansion of SAP environments
- Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the BASIS component of SAP systems and will assist in the planning, designing, and architecting of SAP systems across a variety of platforms and databases
- Work with SAP to understand the latest technical solutions and deploy fit for purpose solutions that are scalable and meet performance requirements
- Hands on BASIS administrator that builds and runs SAP environments across the landscape including sandbox, development, quality, stage, and production
- Provide hands on IT BASIS Administration support for delivered solutions to ensure coverage in a 24x7 system availability model in partnership with the Application Managed Service partner
- Manage the day to day outage, break-fix, and minor enhancements as part of IT BASIS support provided by the Application Managed Service partner and SAP
- Act as the Major Incident escalation point for all SAP BASIS related incidents working with the Major Incident Manager to resolve incidents in a timely manner, while minimizing business impact
- Define, coordinate and execute consistent technical architectural standards across the SAP landscape
- Provide high-level architecture, system sizing, and infrastructure requirements definition for current and future state SAP Landscapes
- Maintain the integrity of all SAP systems by managing and/or executing installations, upgrades, file system, and patching (including SAP OSS notes, Security Patches, etc.)
- Perform and report on SAP system performance and monitoring (including general availability, prevention and tuning, application optimization, system dumps, batch jobs, etc.)
- Develop, maintain and execute an SAP Environment Strategy and annual plan including refreshes across the landscape to support maintenance, project, and upgrade activities
- Define and deliver relevant technical requirements and ensure these are scoped appropriately within projects
- Coordinate all BASIS activities with SAP as outlined under the SAP Hana Enterprise Cloud (HEC) RACI such as system rebuilds, back-ups, HEC services, upgrades, etc.
- Recommend and implement downtime optimization techniques for patching, upgrades, and other maintenance activities
- Oversee and manage BASIS tasks during projects including mock cutovers, production cutovers, and HyperCare
- Facilitate the relationship with development team leaders; ensure teams are providing needed quality, sustainable, and performance tuned solutions
- Provide input to architecture, security, and data standards; ensure end-to-end solutions adhere to these standards
- In partnership with Enterprise Architect(s), stay abreast of and share industry trends and emerging technology topics with a focus in SAP
- Impart SAP expertise to other T. Marzetti employees or contractors through over the shoulder learning, system demonstrations, and coordinated knowledge sharing sessions
- Serve as SME related to BASIS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 6+ years of experience with supporting SAP on-premise and cloud platforms; SAP S/4HANA HEC or RISE preferred.
- Experience with Solution Manager and CHaRM processes; experience defining / operating SAP transport paths in a complex technical architecture
- 6+ years hands on SAP BASIS administration with HANA
- Expert with system sizing, storage management, database sizing/management, backups, and disaster recovery for SAP systems is a plus
- Expert with SAP Tuning, Troubleshooting, Debugging related to system performance
- Expert with defining / operating SAP architecture on Microsoft Azure a plus
- Experienced in technical project management and / or leadership skills including the ability to plan, organize, and control activities
- Strong analytical, organization, time management, facilitation, and process management skills
- Demonstrated high level of written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate technical and non-technical information, ideas, procedures, and processes
- Expert performing system sizing
- Expert with systems and cloud monitoring techniques and technologies
- Expertise in SAP Infrastructure with emphasis on SAP BASIS, Security, Change management, SAP Integration technologies, Development Workbench, Memory management, and Workload management
- Demonstrated experience managing enhancements, projects and upgrades in an SAP environment
- Experience working on JAVA based systems (Portal, PI/PO, etc.)
- Strong and broad knowledge of environment architecture including Linux, Unix, Wintel servers with databases HANA, Oracle, DB2, MaxDB, SQL Server, etc.
