We cover your assignment-related expenses such as:
All basic needs related to assignment i.e., travel to and from assignment, food & household costs, housing, local transportation, etc.

You will also receive a small monthly stipend for personal items (such as clothing, vacations, and haircuts) and are eligible for assistance with repaying student loans due during SALT.
There is no program fee to participate in SALT. Instead, you are expected to try your best to reach a modest fundraising goal set by MCC. Fundraising can be intimidating but we do not want it to discourage you. We simply ask you to try your best and use all the tools we will provide. If you feel you may not be able to reach the fundraising goal, simply be in touch with the SALT Coordinator after being placed. Together we will determine a way forward based on your personal situation.

To be eligible for SALT, you must be:
Invitations to serve with MCC are contingent on the successful outcome of criminal background check(s)
- Between 18 and 30 years old
- Unmarried, without dependents
- Canadian or U.S. citizens, primary residence in Canada or the U.S.
- Willing to follow MCC requirements
- Dedicated to nonviolent peacemaking
- Committed to a personal Christian faith
- Actively participating in a Christian community or church

MCC’s Serving and Learning Together (SALT) program is a year-long, cross-cultural experience that will give you the chance to dive deep into another culture and grow in ways you never imagined.
