We are seeking a ROI Specialist to join our Medical Records department. This position is Full-Time, scheduled 40 hours per week and is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package. Location:
Mid Columbia Medical Center is located in The Dalles, Oregon. We work, live, and play in the scenic Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. Located 85 miles east of Portland in the majestic Columbia River Gorge, The Dalles features old-growth forests, rushing waterfalls, and year-round access to outdoor recreation, including downhill and cross-country skiing, world-class water sports, and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. The area boasts award-winning wineries, and, most importantly, warm, friendly people.

Responsibilities:
Under general supervision in the Health Information Management area, the ROI Specialist retrieves from multiple sources and prepares medical records for release in response to medical, personal, legal and third party requests, scans requests and logs disclosures. Appropriately responds to requests for information by applying knowledge of privacy laws, access, release of information, and release control technologies. Requests for information may come in the form of internal chart requests, mail, telephone calls, faxes, electronic or in-person requests. This position is knowledgeable in HIPAA, HITECH and state privacy regulations, analyzing all requests in light of regulations.
The ROI Specialist also supports certain MCMC applications for which the HIM department is responsible, such as Policy Manager, Transcription module, Speech Recognition, OVERS State certificates, and Iron Mountain record storage, retrieval and destruction.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • High School graduate or equivalent
    • Successful completion of a medical office program or an accredited health records program (or equivalent related work experience) preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • N/A
  • Experience:
    • Minimum two years of related and progressively more responsible health care experience(or equivalent education) required.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
    • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including tact, diplomacy and ability to maintain composure.
    • Able to apply general office skills and techniques, i.e., filing and computer usage; keyboard speed of 55 wpm.
    • Able to prioritize multiple tasks.
    • Able to work independently and as a team member.
    • Able to handle sensitive and private information and adhere to all confidentiality policies.
