SCOPE OF POSITION
Demonstrates knowledge of ACC guidelines for rhythm management. Functions independently in complex situations, generally without physician intervention, but recognizing when physician notification/intervention is required. Demonstrates ability to navigate patient’s medical record for information pertinent to clinic visit. Interrogates, programs, and troubleshoots pacemakers, ICDs and other implantable cardiac devices in accordance with physician-approved protocols, demonstrating competency in the devices.Demonstrates familiarity with devices produced by multiple manufacturers.Manages the device schedule, seeing patients every 30 minutes and generating a thorough report at the end of every visit. Appropriately arranges all aspects of follow-up for device patients. Demonstrates skill in the area of patient education (i.e. wound care, when to call the office, how to utilize phone monitoring equipment, and general arrhythmia information).Balances independent decision-making (using nursing knowledge and experience), while recognizing the need for input from physicians and mid-level providers. Demonstrates efficiency and accuracy in the over-reading of pacemaker and ICD telephone monitoring reports. Returns patient phone calls within 8 hours of receiving calls, thoroughly documenting instructions/explanations given.Accurately and efficiently over-reads pacemaker telephone and ICD remote monitoring reports. Proficiently interprets ICD EGM’s and arrhythmia discrimination.Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency in use of EHR.Refills prescriptions accurately, according to prescription refill policy.Serves as clinical resource to non-nursing techs and to non-EP nursing staff. Other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Current Tennessee RN license. BLS, ACLS certified.Excellent knowledge of cardiac rhythms with ability to accurately identify abnormal rhythms. Previous electrophysiology cardiac experience preferred.Ability to complete Device Competency Checklist. Attends regular “industry-provided’ seminars. NASPE certification preferred.
