We are currently recruiting for several residential seasonal positions for this upcoming Summer 2023! Camp Frank A. Day is a residential camp in East Brookfield, MA. It is a coed camp. Camp Frank A. Day campers bond as a community as they learn how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group. Through physical, social and educational activities, our campers gain self-reliance, a love for nature and the outdoors, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership—all amidst the fun of camp fires, bugle calls, canoeing, soccer matches, archery and talent shows.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Kitchen staff will coordinate all aspects of the camp’s kitchen, dining hall, and laundry need. They will also support the housekeeping staff as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Inform the Camp Director of any camper or staff problems, issues, or concerns.

Correct and document, as necessary, situations that endanger the emotional or physical safety of any person.

Maintain kitchen equipment in good working order.

Active support of our DEIB statement and putting into practice our commitment to equity, diversity, belonging and inclusion. Continue to think about strategies to support diversity goals of the organization.

Keep kitchen clean and neat and ensure proper service areas.

Support the head cooks as needed

Will be supervised by the Head Chef for kitchen concerns and questions

Demonstrate and teach the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Follow all camp rules and regulations and enforce them among peers.

Routine cleaning responsibilities related to the camp’s health and safety protocols.

Maintain positive public relations with parents, visitors, and the general public at all times.

Perform other duties and provide unit coverage as assigned.

Ability to communicate, and work with different types of chemicals and skill levels and provide necessary instructions.

Abilities to enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.

Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to assigned activities.

Physical ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring first aid.

Physical ability to walk to and from the parking lot.

Physical ability to organize and maintain equipment and supplies within the laundry.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Desire and ability to work with and relate to children and one’s peers outdoors

Training, experience, and interest in laundry management and cleaning bathrooms

Committing to support and further our anti-racist work as an organization. Learning about our initiatives and the continuous work and being able to vocalize with members if needed.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Reliable, dependable, great time-management skills and ability to multi-task.

Ability to accurately track and manage clean clothes and folding them

Good role model, high integrity, and adaptable

At least 18 years old, valid driver’s license, and an acceptable driving record

Current First Aid and Adult and Child CPR certifications

Physical Demands:

Hear noises and work in fast paced environment that requires patience, focus and diligence.

Meet strength and lifting requirements of 25lbs.

See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.
