About The Position
The Research Physical Therapist position is being hired for a newly funded research study led by Dr. Johna Register-Mihalik from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Research Physical Therapist will be responsible for clinical support and data collection for all study subjects appointments at the research site located at Fort Bragg (Fayetteville, NC). This position is an in-person position that is responsible for the coordination of research subjects, research tasks, intervention/activity progression, data collection, data entry/management, and support clinic staff with brain injury clinical care as needed under the direction of study personnel at the site(s).
This is an on-site position assigned primarily on Ft. Bragg at the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) site and occassionally working as needed at Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC). A thorough government background check will be required.

Salary Range
$75,000 - $100,000. Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
- Collaborate with the research coordinator, with direction from the PI and or their designee, the initiation of the research study protocol and the implementation of operating procedures at Fort Bragg with study groups
- Administer physical therapy treatment programs to include the planning, coordination, controlling, direction and evaluation of physical therapy including rehabilitation and general activity progression, activities for the research study
- Record all pertinent data in the study database as applicable
- Assist with other areas of TBI research as needed
- Follow study protocol, clinical recommendations, and guidelines to properly execute all study activities/responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and determine the type and frequency of physical therapy treatment necessary to assist in the progression and recovery of study participants per the study protocol
- Collect and complete data management process
- Provide clinical support for subjects while being tested via all study protocols as well as during the intervention/activity progression
- Provide support to clinic staff with brain injury clinical care on an as needed basis as directed by study site personnel
- Maintain a collaborative research environment between the Site Principal Investigator (PI), the study PI, other site and study personnel, research participants, The Geneva Foundation, UNC-Chapel Hill, and the funding organization
- Assist in preparation of interim and final progress and overall study reports
- Plan and develop physical therapy treatments, procedures, and programs
- Make recommendations on staffing
- Determine and implement policies and procedures pertaining to physical therapy program and activities
- Assist with applicable regulatory documentation and compliance
- Master's or Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree required from an accredited Physical Therapy program
- Current Physical Therapist license and maintain this license throughout the term of the contract
- 3-5 years’ experience in physical therapy preferred, with some experience in traumatic brain injury
- Experience with concussion and/or broader traumatic brain injury research preferred
- Experience with military-related traumatic brain injury is preferred
- Familiarity with the heart rate variability measurement and computerized neurocognitive assessments and outcomes is desired
- Knowledge of Kubios and SAS is highly desirable
- Must be eligible for SECRET clearance
- 3-5 years non-profit, research, or healthcare experience desired
- Knowledge of Institutional Review Board practice and human subject regulations
- Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication
- Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanor
- Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner
- Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Software including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and have willingness to learn and trouble shoot computer related issues.
- Knowledge of clinical or general research techniques is required
- Knowledge of basic statistics is a plus
- Must be a US citizen and be able to pass a government background investigation
- Must possess current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification and maintain it during the term of the contract
