Job description
Performs repairs to customer owned mobility equipment and UnityPoint owned mobility equipment in both customer home and office. Provides technical phone support for patients/caregivers. Maintains records on all actions performed on items under the responsibility of HME Rehab. Coordinates the outsourced repair of medical equipment with qualified vendors. Provides education to staff on the proper use of equipment.

- Troubleshooting and repair of patient owned and company owned manual and power wheelchairs. Documenting all patient interaction and repairs in the medical record

- Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements

Education:
High School or Vocational School graduate or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
Strong interpersonal skills.- Ability to work as a collaborative team member.
- Ability to develop guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Valid Mandatory Reporter course completion by state(s) requirement
- Valid licensed driver with automobile insurance in accordance with state and/or organizational requirements.
- Five years’ experience in repair and maintenance of Home Medical Equipment.
- Completion of a two year associates degree course in Electronic Technology or equivalent.
- Five years’ experience in patient care/ customer service.
