Job Profile Summary: We have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced OB/GYN Physician to partner with our Operations Director as a Regional Medical Director for our East/South region. We are looking for an innovative and forward thinking RMD to guide our evidence based, progressive, non-university based and resource rich Women’s Health Service line. Our Regional Medical Director will be responsible for ensuring outstanding clinical care, patient satisfaction, organizational and administrative support and have a good understanding of Allina planning/financial goals.
Job Description:
Regional Medical Director
- Monitors activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services in the clinical service line or across sites.
- Facilitates communication between physicians, site administration and employees.
- Lead efforts to achieve quality goals, and improve the quality of patient care and patient experience.
Clinical
- Provides direct care for obstetric and gynecology patients.
- Provides direct patient care to women which may include specializing in areas of general medicine, the reproductive system, pregnancy and childbirth.
- Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
- Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
- Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
- May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
Practice details:
- Women's Health Service line has eight labor and delivery locations; 13,800 deliveries/year; 30 clinics; 53 OBGYNs; 21 OB hospitalists; 13 Clinical Nurse Midwives, 11 Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, 2 fetal interventionalists and urogynecology
- Nursing Support programs for Rx refills, triage and pap results
- After hours answering service support
- Quaternary hospital: Abbott Northwestern, Lv IV NICU; Tertiary hospitals - Mercy and United with level III NICUs, and 5 regional hospitals
- Mentorship/learning from a group of 80+ providers across our health system
- Integrative Medicine collaboration, Perinatal Mental Health Consultants and Uro/Gyn APP support
- Call will be 1:5 on average

Job Requirements
- MD, DO, or foreign equivalency training required
- BE/BC with ABMS or AOA required
- Active, non-restricted medical license in MN (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and hospital privileges, if applicable
- BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required within 6 months of hire]
- Previous leadership experience preferred
This position will be a mix of RMD (.3fte) and clinical (.7fte).
