TITLE: NVT QUALITY ENGINEER

SUMMARY

Develop and maintain the company’s quality systems. These include all major core elements that are required to provide world class product and services in the noise and vibration testing industry. Encourage and communicate best practices and quality principles throughout all levels of the organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • On occasion this will be a customer-facing role which will require good and timely communication skills
  • Develop and maintain the core element of the quality system including all key aspects. Ensure the quality system will comply with the expectations set by the Executive Management Team.
  • Perform management reviews to show the effectiveness of our quality systems.
  • Manage the corrective action system to promote a means to continually improve the system. Promote individuals use of statistical means to identify the root cause issues and means to ensure permanent corrective action. Train individuals on these methods.
  • Arrange for an internal audit program that will periodically review the effectiveness of the quality systems. Train employees on proper auditing techniques and practices. Ensure all finding are properly tracked and addressed.
  • As customer issues are identified, coordinate activities as required to ensure customer needs are satisfied and proper containment is in place until the problem is resolved.
  • Assist with customer visits to provide quality support including customer audit.
  • Manage supplier quality, including audits, supplier performance ratings, process capability, non-conformances, and supplier corrective actions.
  • Analyze and compose vendor quality report to review with suppliers.
  • Work with Purchasing and Engineering on NPI and vendor qualification
  • Able to use and maintain measurement and test equipment required to properly manufacture our equipment.
  • Manage the calibration test equipment program.
  • Drive quality initiatives throughout the factories.
  • Parts first article inspection and performing/training inbound and outbound quality check.

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS

  • Being able to present complex technical concepts.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to comprehend engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%; some overseas travel may be required.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in mechanical engineering or other relevant technical field.
  • Ability to use statistical means to identify problems and provide direction.
  • Identification and execution of "tools" used by employees to result in continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge and application of lean practices.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with a variety of personnel and departments.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Knowledge of inspection equipment and techniques.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds, stand, walk, talk, hear and sit. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle and/or feel objects and use hands and arms to reach objects or materials, carry objects and small packages and operating office equipment.

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the production area is usually loud and the noise levels in most office areas are generally quiet.
