The Company

The Morning Star Company and its affiliates operate three tomato processing facilities in Central California, processing 35% to 40% of the California processing tomato crop, in addition to tomato transplanting, harvesting and trucking operations. The company employs approximately 450 year-round and 2,500 seasonal colleagues and annual sales exceeding $800 million.

We are organizationally structured through a system we term Mission Focused Self-Management. Our company is operated by colleagues without titles or an appointed hierarchy of authority. Each Colleague is expected to be the manager of their mission. Authority relative to other colleagues’ activities is lateral and based on their independent agreements. Quality Control Colleague responsibilities include pulling tomato product samples, run tests, and document the product’s test results and recommend suggestions required to attain the best quality product possible.

Physical Requirements:

• Be able to lift at least 30-40 pounds comfortably
• Frequent walking and standing 8-12 hours
• Frequent climbing/walking up and down stairs and ladders
• Prolonged standing and walking
• Repetitive hand and arm movement

Competency Requirements:

• Ability to speak, read, and write English
• Some experience using computers, and an ability to learn Excel and Word
• Competent with basic math
• Able to learn proper use of key lab equipment
• Able to communicate effectively with coworkers
• Follow all Liberty Packing policies, including GMP’s and safety daily
• Able to work in a self-managed environment
• Maintains a positive attitude towards other colleagues
