The Findlay Family Group of businesses has been in operation for over 100 years, and is currently in its fourth generation of family management with the fifth oncoming. Originally a local bread bakery, we grew into the largest plant bread producer on the East Coast of New Zealand.
Findlay Food Coatings Ltd was established in 2013 to operate in the USA. Two Powder Blending sites were built in Idaho USA to provide Batter Coating solutions primarily to produce specialist coatings for French fries.

The open position of Quality Assurance Technician is an hourly position on Day shift (5/6 am-1:30/2:30pm) at our Caldwell facility. It may require some overtime. The opening is due to our current QA Tech being promoted within the company, which is always a possibility when we have great people join our team!
This is a key position covering Quality needs in our business. This role primarily works out of the QA Testing lab performing physical testing of batter samples. Additional responsibilities includes relaying information to carriers to ensure product is delivered on time, creating shipping and customs documents, submitting and dropping off micro samples for testing, reviewing COA’s for incoming ingredients, contacting suppliers if we're missing information, assisting with environmental swabbing, scanning and emailing documents and assisting with other quality-related tasks as needed.
The position reports directly to the Quality Systems Manager and has strong lines of communication with the Idaho Plant Manager and Auckland technical team. You will be required to, but not limited to, do the following activities:
- Alignment with our Strategic Plan.
- Compliance to our Health & Safety Programs.
- Compliance with Quality and Food Safety Programs.
- Perform product testing in the quality laboratory including viscosity, chloride, moisture, and gluten testing.
- Reporting test results accurately in a timely manner.
- Review incoming ingredient COA’s against the product specifications.
- Reviewing receiving paperwork, calculating expiration dates and scanning documentation for all incoming loads
- As needed, preparing shipping documentation which includes BOL’s and COA’s
- Keeping the quality laboratory clean and taking inventory of supplies as needed
- Assist and support the production team as needed
- Performing additional quality related tasks as needed
To contribute and add value to FFCL through continuous improvements of processes, systems, and practices.
Have effective and excellent Communication with Senior Managers & entire staff.
Ensure Safe practices are observed by yourself and to lead others when needed.
Ensure Good Manufacturing Practice is followed and to lead others when needed.
Maintain a strong line of communication with Plant Manager
Ensure End of Day report and KPIs are monitored and communicated daily.
Ability to work with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Job Type: Full-time - 90 working day probationary period.
